When we moved here in 1996 I brought these with me from St. George Island, Fl. The person who shared them with me just said they were tiger lilies. Does it have a "proper" name and if not can it still be added to the DB and where ??

Does not look familiar to me. My Mom's tiger lilies were true lilies, not daylilies. Your photo shows a daylily. Maybe it was a knickname?

I did find this link for true lily "tiger lilies"
http://gurneys.com/product.asp...

This link shows daylily "tiger lily". Which they say is the species fulva.

I have grown fulva, and yours does not really look like fulva to me.

Ginger, the problem is with 70,000 registered. And lots of species, plus a gazillion seedlings each year, seldom will you really know for sure what the daylily is. I have a few that I love that have been "No ID" for years.

Anyone who comes to my garden and is unfamiliar with daylilies wants to know about 'tiger lilies' and I don't know what to say. I generally take them to see some true lilies and daylilies. They then want to know what they call the orange ones that grow along the road. Then I explain...
