What's Blooming in April

By LarryR
April 19, 2012

Like many other parts of the Midwest, our spring came early in Iowa this year, with temperatures approaching those of summer. Unfortunately, we are back to reality now, with three successive nights of temperatures in the upper 20s. Some plants suffered visible damage, but many that I expected to see damaged breezed through the cold spell with nary a blemish! Come on into the garden and see what our early spring has wrought.

We had a late frost here too, but I think everything came through relatively well. I covered as much as I could manage. Some things are a little bitten and the white and coral azaleas pretty much gave up after that. But they had been spectacular for a very long time! We've had such a long spring blooming season due to our unusually warm winter this year. And everything has been loaded with blooms. Thumbs up

I gained weight just reading the recipe for the Chocolate Loaf ... but it looks very good!!

Enjoyed this.
