I rescued this plant in early apring. It has barely one inch of root and crown.

My gardens now look crappy. The phlox I added this year help, but I need other things. Not coneflowers. They just don't do well here. But I'm watching for suggestions.

Have you tried Pow Wow Wildberry? If not give it a try.

No, I haven't. OK, I will. I think they just don't like our sandy soil. They seem pretty fussy in general.

Pow wow seems to be the easiest one and you can grow from seed.

In fact we can skip August and go to September cool weather as far as I am concerned.

Spring, I actually bought two plants the year before last off eBay and planted them in the fall. One year later they were 5 feet tall and this year they are 7 feet tall and wide, plus there are two of them. Yikes!!
I did purchase from Bayou Blooms when she teamed up with mamajack, I got two Jazz Berry Jam, two Morning Glory Trees and two Texas Star Hibiscus.

Goldfinch, I have been lucky, I have been getting rain off and on. One good thing about these Hardy Hibiscus is that they are drought resistant and so is Cup Plant. I never water them and I like having plants like that. These only bloom when it rains, but they are worth the space because they put on a show all summer!!

The darkest buds stay for a long time befor they open. I expect the open flowers to fade to almost white.
