eclayne said:Ruby Star started blooming in late June, 1st year, and while its slowed down it's still blooming and sending out buds. I cut off old blooms the other day and it's looking pretty good. Is that habit common among echis?
New bed and looking lonesome.

Finally catching up here. Some really nice plantings, everyone!

My gardens now look crappy. The phlox I added this year help, but I need other things. Not coneflowers. They just don't do well here. But I'm watching for suggestions.

No, I haven't. OK, I will. I think they just don't like our sandy soil. They seem pretty fussy in general.

Green Grin! Spring, I actually bought two plants the year before last off eBay and planted them in the fall. One year later they were 5 feet tall and this year they are 7 feet tall and wide, plus there are two of them. Blinking Yikes!!
I did purchase from Bayou Blooms when she teamed up with mamajack, I got two Jazz Berry Jam, two Morning Glory Trees and two Texas Star Hibiscus.

Green Grin! Goldfinch, I have been lucky, I have been getting rain off and on. One good thing about these Hardy Hibiscus is that they are drought resistant and so is Cup Plant. I never water them and I like having plants like that. These only bloom when it rains, but they are worth the space because they put on a show all summer!! Thumbs up
Thumb of 2012-08-06/virginiarose/84d717 This is Jazz Berry Jam on the left, still a baby.

The darkest buds stay for a long time befor they open. I expect the open flowers to fade to almost white.
