I don't know about that Evelyn. I think you can safely take the title of "Queen of Broken Patterned Iris".

I think Robin's right. I bet you have more broken colors than anyone else on the forum.

"Broken old lady!" haha... nodding

They will be evaluated. If they are not strong growers or look beautiful in "person"....there will be a "short reign!"

Oh, BTW, there are 239 broken irises in the database. (I have 35.)

Evelyn,
If you are going to be queen of the blues then you absolutely need to add Yaquina Blue to your collection. Depending on light conditions it will appear between purple to blue. My wife and I visited Napa Country iris a couple of years ago, and Yaquina Blue wasn't on our buy list, but as we were driving away we found ourselves in conversation about what we saw and liked and this one iris made the greatest impression on both of us out of their entire selection of hundreds of iris. Once we got home, the first thing I did was go on-line and add it to our order.

Richard ~ Thank You! for sharing your experience. I have been meaning to order it for years, and just got a "round-toit" and ordered it late this year from Joni's.

I'm torn between several deep blues, none of which I've seen in person.

How does "Navy Blues" compare with "Blueberry Bliss", "Deep Pacific", and "Devil's Lake"?

I am looking for some deep blue impact.

Ok, maybe so, but I think they are still the bluest of the dark range, so my question still stands. Navy Blues was mentioned in an earlier post in this same thread, so, I'm interested in how these others compare to it as far as massing, form, vigor and color impact in the garden. Has anyone grown more than one of these so they can make comparisons?

Sherry, what is that deep blue iris in the background of your photo of Some Big Star? Is that your reblooming blue NOID again?

Daisy,

I grow both Navy Blues and Blueberry Bliss. Navy Blues blooms much earlier in the season than Blueberry Bliss, so you could grow both of them for the deep blue impact. Blueberry Bliss increased very well and was a beautiful clump its third year.

Thumb of 2020-01-17/AndreaD/fec242

My Navy Blues grows a bit more slowly, but two rhizomes of NB grew into this clump in two years.

You can see that BB has more buds than NB, but as I say, they bloom at different times.
