I say Katydid too.

Those iridescent flies look like long-legged flies (family Dolicopodidae). I love those little things, they are so cute and they are beneficial in the garden!! http://aggie-horticulture.tamu...

Katydid is still there...a red daylily; a couple of years ago one hung out w/ an orange daylily for days...

The pollen marks on the legs made me do a double-take.

Beautiful mantis captures. But I really think the wasp with an attitude, both captures, are fantastic. I haven't ever seen a red wasp photo that looked that good. Glad I haven't seen one of those wasps in person either. I'm sure the neighbors would all hear me screaming. They look evil, in a medieval sort of way. Well, if they weren't perched on such pretty plants.

Nice photos Toni! We have those wasps here too --- they're kinda indigo. That bee has some cleaning up to do before she can even see to fly!

We have those wasps too, I think, and they do look kinda indigo (like Ann said) sometimes even iridescent in the right light.
