Have you ever had a year and no flowers?

I have had the worst hosta yr ever. This is the first year I have had deer eat all the leave off my plants as soon as all the opened. This happened about May. I usually have this happen in Aug Sept they start to eat,

They did miss 5 that was on the patio. They are health and look good but no flowers. I did not expect flowers from the ones with no leaves but I usual get flowers from the ones on the patio in pots.

The only time I have not got any flowers is when they are too crowded or virtually no sun.

It has been really strange for me because I had gardened in shade which is why I ended up with so many hostas.

You could be right because we did have the most rainy days and when not raining cloudy summer on record.

Did you have a crappy spring? We did and many people lost mature hostas. Several of my largest ones were quite stunted and many of mine either din't bloom or bloomed far less than usual.

@ViolaAnn, It was a crappy rainy cold Spring but that is usually when mine are happy. I know I was going to have a bad year when the deer ate the leaves off of every one in the garden. It was raining so much I could not keep the deer off spray to stay on them to chase the deer away.

i thought it was strange because in 30 yrs of growing Hostas I have never had a year of absolutely no flowers. I particularly look forward to the fragrant ones I planted on the patio.
