The adage, " you get what you pay for" doesn't seem to ring true anymore.
I bid/paid $17.00 for this on ebay -- (yeah, wasn't that smart, but I did it anyway) for Blondies Blush
Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Blondie's Blush')
This is the plant I received and after spending nearly 2 months in a 4" pot!!

below are some picts of the rhizomes I sent out to the same customer. It has been my longstanding opinion, that It isn't the size of the fan being important, but the condition and root activity of the rhizome being sent. Note the incipient anchor roots developing.

This is how I like to send out my stock. Part of the reason why im a little later in shipping than some growers.

Timothy, I just repotted several I got from you - from 1 gal to 2 gallons. You should have seen the root system on them. Megarich's were gigantic! I should have taken pics!

I agree. It's really a crap shoot, buying rhizomes on ebay - although there are some reputable sellers, like Raggsnriches and the Iris Sisters' daughters! And others - but I've been burned once or twice. I've noticed that the good ones give knowledgable notes - information about what they are offering.

The only case of 'not what I paid for' was two not yet blooming irises labelled 'Batik' at Lowe's. Paid a premium of $12.98 for each, and they were not Batik. They were pretty, but not Batik. And, they have since not returned in like four or five years. It could be my own doing for that, though.

I haven't attempted buying irises or plants from either Amazon or Ebay, so who knows what I may come across.

Good luck with your shipping and irises, Timothy! Thumbs up
TB 'Starting Fresh' blooming for me in May of 2022. It bloomed for a week and a half with nine buds.

Timothy ~ The rhizomes that you send out are all outstanding. Thank you so much for all of your hard work this year, as the summer has been brutal. I am very happy that you survived it! Hurray! Group hug
