I agree I agree That's a beautiful lot! I am sure that when you have everything planned and planted, it will surely become a piece of Eden. Can't wait to see your progress and results. I sometimes follow Ginny (Legalily) garden's progress of her new home's garden. It's amazing to see all that she had accomplished.

It looks like a nice open slate there., Annette. That would be a lot of fun to lay out. I can already tell your lot will be the star of the neighborhood in no time at all. Happy planning!

Thanks Karen and Tracey! It's nice to have a clean slate to plant out.

I'm sure my neighbors will think that I'm crazy, when they see the number of plants that I'll be transferring to the new home.

Karen, I'll have to check out Ginny's posts.

Still digging, bagging and tagging the older plants here. We've had so much rain with more to come, which made it much easier to get the roots out.

The new roots have also been planted in bags, and thanks to our cold weather, the ones with the increasing pips have stopped growing. These will get taken to my SIL's garden this weekend.

Annette, those bags look great!

I am enjoying your information on moving. I hope your SIL knows you well enough to not be shocked that you want to move so much.

Thumbs up

Thanks LG!

My family has seen how extensive my garden is, so my SIL understands, which I'm thankful for.

All I can say is that you will have a whole lot of planting to do this spring! Not sure that I envy you but one thing I am sure of is that you will give them all a great new home.

I've had a chance to dig out the last few peonies. The only one left is the graft plant from my TP Shojuraku, the TP was destroyed by the yard guys, and it never grew back.

I was thrilled to find the tag for one of my noids. It has always been one of my 1st plants to bloom, and when I dug it up yesterday, the tag came up intact, that was buried when the peony was planted in 2007.

This is Paula Fay.

Thanks Anya! My car got loaded tonight with over 30 plants, heading to my SIL's home tomorrow with the last of the plants.

LG, I love Paula Fay! I'm glad it finally has a name. It's one of my oldest plants. I also ordered another in 2011, from a Hollingsworth co-op, that finally bloomed this year, not knowing that I already had the plant😳!

I wanted Paula Fay right away when got the "peony germ". It was in that time when I tried different peony sources and bought this peony as a 2-3-eye root from BloomingBulb in spring 2016. It grew into a decent size bush last summer but no flowers yet. I noticed that it might have got a mosaic virus though, a good thing is that there are no nematodes in Alaska which transmit the virus so I can leave it in place if it continues to grow and look good.

Anya, I'm glad you were able to get your plant. Sorry to hear about the mosaic virus, I would like to see pictures of how the virus affected your peony. I didn't know that peonies could get this.

I did a Google search, and this article from the Pacific Northwest Handbook says that there have been reports from Washington and Alaska. I hope that the virus doesn't get transmitted to your other plants.

Oh yes, ans it is quite common! I read bout it and recommendation was to destroy the infected plants to avoid the virus transmission to other plants (via nematodes in soil). However, on a lecture at the last APS convention it was said that one specialist observed a lot of peony plants infected with the virus to a certain degree. My Paula Fay showed mosaic pattern on 2 leaves and I cut them off, the rest looked healthy. I will see how it grows next year, if it continues to show a lot of mosaic pattern I will destroy it and buy another one.

Thanks, Annette! I hope too, at least they say there no nematodes in our soil so recommendation for Alaska growers is to leave the infected plants in place. Looking forward to seeing its flowers!
