I've read a couple of posts where folks talk about their lilies being mushy from the unsettled weather some of us are experiencing.
I don't see any of that or maybe I'm not realizing what exactly everyone is talking about (newbie here).
Anyone have pics of the damage they have?

Mine aren't very high yet - just a couple of inches and could this be the reason why?

That is probably the reason why, Julia. The ground is warm and if they are low to the ground it could keep them from freezing.

I'll take a picture later, so you can see some mush. It's just on the top of mine, looks like frozen lettuce, if you've ever had lettuce freeze.

Thanks Polly. No frozen lettuce here. Some of the newly planted lilies are starting to poke through as well. Getting rain here and temps are on the rise again. Maybe this month, May, will be easier on all of us in the northern states.

Julia, my lilies have gone from wilted lettuce to brown, but here's what they look like after a freeze.

Oh, that's a good picture,Polly! You wouldn't know it from looking at any picture, but its mushy/juicy for sure! I had a few in the corners that 'got it'. A couple of them survived and continued to grow right on up and thru that mushy top but are deformed.

I overlooked my Crocosmia 'lucifer' and it got 'bit' also but it continued to spiral up and looks good now; didn't know they were so sensitive as well.

Hmmm, I didn't either. I will have to go check out my crocosmias.

Thank you Polly for the picture. Now I know what to look for. So far I'm okay with my lilies but sorry to see the damage on yours.

I have Lucifer also, and noticed after we had the snow/sleet storm, several of the emerging leaves had browned. Hopefully I won't lose all of it this year. I also planted some orange colored ones this year so maybe I might see something from those too. No names as I bought them off an Ebay seller.

Since we got those thunderstorms last night into early this morning, how did those of you north of me make out? I guess it was our first real thunderstorm of the season and it came here with big bang and lots of rain.Power kept going out and coming back on. No wonder with the high temps and humidity yesterday. I'm not complaining as it is better than snow and sleet.

Everything that was just barely showing has popped up and bigger. Nothing like humidity and rain for plants.

Apparently the frozen brown stems on crocosmia don't stop the growth. Mine pointed right up thru the brown and kept right on growing. The leaf tips are dried brown a couple inches, but that can easily be cut after they get full size. All's well--as they say.
