I bought Emerald Starburst 2 summers ago and it was such a very small fan that I didn't expect it to live. I planted it in a pot and babied it all last summer and it now has made it through 2 winters here and has 2 fans. I am sure hoping that it will bloom this year.

We are having a few blooms from registered daylilies each day and lots of seedling blooms. I took some pictures this morning. We had a light shower this morning which accounts for the water on the blooms. First, is Jeanne (Durio 1985) which is registered as an 8.5" bloom. The first bloom was the first of the week, and I measured it at 9.25". The bloom yesterday was 8.25". I did not have the tape measure with me this morning, but I'd say it was at least 8.5". It is hard to miss this large, very bright bloom. I wish it were a taller scape, registered at 26".

Fred, what IS that amazing plant that you said is the best? It took my breath away.

FFO today on Schnickle Fritz, poly double. nodding

Lyle, I thought of you and your oranges when I saw this. It's a first bloom ever on a seedling of Norma Desmond X Outrageous Fortune.

This is another seedling and the bloom is nothing special, but it has the highest foliage I've ever seen. It's easily over 3 feet tall.

Leslie, that daylily is WILD DREAMS by Larry Grace 2012 intro

Heres a photo of mine on steroids. Not sure if you can tell it in the photo (may have to click it to enlarge it to see), but it's a photo of all the prolifs growing in the bracts and those prolifs either have scapes growing out of them or it's more branching forming. But the prolifs started growing first before the branching/scapes so I'm going with scapes Green Grin!

I had this same thing years ago on a daylily "Plum Perfect" that I have since learned was never registered. I bought it as an All American Winner from 2003. I didn't know until this year that it is not registered. I was looking it up for stats and found that there is a new "Plum Perfect" registered by Maryotts this year. Mine is a 3.5" plum on a 24" scape. The second year I had it, I got 80 something prolifs off it. Some scapes had as many as 10 prolifs and they had blooms, too. I've never had another one!!!! It was like it put out all it's energy making babies and it never did it again.

Now, I wonder if it had the year before I bought it, had BAF used on it or something similar. Just a thought???

Now for the kicker

JURASSIC FIESTA Stamile-Pierce fall 2011

It was raining the day it had it's first bloom so I don't know if it did it on that one. The hybridizer doesn't mention this so it may just be a one time thing.
