Honestly I'm really really excited when someone with only a few seeds joins! I want people to take my seeds! Taaaake theeeemmm. I confess, I cruise my own offering list to see which seeds are already on wish lists. I mean also to check for typos. But I get so happy when I see stuff is already wishlisted.

So please, if all you've got is the minimum, join join join you need my seeds! Then next year you'll have so many more to offer when your garden is overflowing with flowers and fruit/veg! Hurray!

@UndyingLight and any others that might consider joining us:
See the previous post for an invitation to join the seed swap that leaves no doubt that it is really okay to join with just a few seed packets to offer. (Monty, if you want to come back next year, you could cross irises and offer iris seeds. Sticking tongue out )There are 2 other seed swaps if you can't come up with the minimum of 3 seed packs asked of newbie seed swappers in the next 2 days. There's another about 2 weeks later, and one in December. To see the seed list, join the swap and have a look. If you can't or don't want to do the swap, just remove yourself from the swap as soon as you know that you aren't going to participate.

Hello seed swapping friends. I just wanted to stop in and thank everyone again for the wonderful seeds from the last swap. Lovey dubby
I've been doing a ton of daylily crosses this year and will have some great seeds to share with y'all this Fall. Here are a few of my favorite seedlings this year. Most of these genetics will be in this year's swap.

Oh, sigh those look so pretty I wish.i.could learn.how.to.grown them right. I managed to start some from seed in 2017 by winter sewing. The ones that have survived are still very small averaging only about 6". They get some morning sun and no afternoon sun. What needs to change? I tip my hat to you.

I grow mine in pots for 1 year then transplant in well amended beds. The more you put into your bed the more you will get out of it. Daylilies are considered somewhat drought tollerent and this is true but trust me when I say they love water. Thumbs up

Good luck with your seedlings and don't give up. You may end up with something so nice you decide to register it. There are many daylilies regestered by backyard geowers that are named after loved ones that have passed away but you can name one " Fat cat skinny cow" if you want Sticking tongue out

So I should probably pot them up for the next year? Keep in greenhouse till next year? I can try that.

You can pot them up or just move them to an amended bed in full sun. The reason I start mine in pots is so they have a jump on the weeds. If we would direct sow in ground the seedlings would have a heck of a time compeating with our weeds and grasses. Potting soil is sterile and free of weed seeds. Trust me when I say weeding around little tiny daylily seedlings is no fun. Thumbs up

Your pepers should be very happy in there. How much soil did it take to fill the pool? I thought about doing the same thing but with the stiff sided kiddy pools you can get for about 10 bucks at Wal-Mart.

Daniel,
That 8 foot diameter pool (about 50 square foot area) times 8 inches deep (2/3 foot) is about 34 cubic feet, or 17 of the big 2 cubic foot bags of potting soil.
Or, if you already have compost, mix 10-12 cubic feet of that with 10-12 cubic feet of peat moss and 10-12 cubic feet of perlite or vermiculite.

We have a perlite company about 3hrs away where I pay 7 bucks per 4 cubic ft bag. Locally that stuff runs over $20 for the same size so every year I make that trip and get about 20-30 bags. Sure wish I could find some peat moss at wholesale prices. I'm paying over $10 for a 3 cubic ft bale and run through about 30 to 40 bales a year.
