I have not. I have one plant which has the ugliest bloom with these beautiful seed pods. They look similar to your photo. Have you tried or thought about grow them out?

Thanks for the link.... five years to bloom for an ugly bloom like mine has? I don't think so. Green Grin! But apparently I can eat them. Hmmmm...

Yes, I get nice red seed pods all the time on my Epiphyllum phyllanthus v. phyllanthus and they germinate like gang busters! Truly. ( If they fall down outside, they will start germinate right there on the ground) I did it once officially some years ago and the germination rate was surely close to 100 %
I gave pots stuffed with plants away the next year. ( I used to belong to our local C&S society then)

WOW! That is cool for them to germinate that freely. I am sure the conditions were ideal.

Do you have a photo of the bloom on that plant by any chance?

Yes.
This bloom measures ca 2-3 inches on a long tube, opens in the evening and closes up by 4 am. Sometimes it is cleistogamous and you might be surprised at the makings of a seed pod on the plant, as you never saw the bud opening.

Very neat ~ thank you. At least the blooms on your plant are attractive. My blooms are quite ugly. The seed pod is the prettiest part.

I didn't see any photos in the Plants Database. Flor de Baile (Epiphyllum phyllanthus subsp. phyllanthus) You have such a nice series of photos, you might consider submitting them. Thumbs up

I was searching for information on your plant and found this interesting information.

Vivipary - thanks for the interesting info. I have never observed it on my Epiphyllum, but it happened on one of my Euphorbia x lomi, there was actually a small plant developing right on an old bloom, so I thought! It had set seed and a small plant grew out of that while still attached.
