Got an email confirmation that my box is on its way! Last weekend to plant peonies here, I think....

I ordered many from them this year and was told that their operations would continue unchanged since having been sold and selling off a portion of their tree and herbatious peony program. Today, their customer service told me that next year quantities are going to be severely limited and after next year they cannot make any promises if they are going to be in business at all or offer any kind of peonies. This was after they told me for months nothing was going to change and they would keep having peonies. They are being very veiled about what is going on there. One person says one thing and then another tells you another. I really do not think they are going to be in business much longer and should just be honest and say so on their website.

Yes, it will be very sad if they close their business. I do love their selection of tree and herbaceous peonies as well as dogwoods and magnolias. Though I would support them too if they decide to close to retire or to take care of their health. Running a business is tough when health and/or age catch up to you.

Earlier this fall I bought a pair of Hans Sass cultivars in building built and used by Interstate Nurseries - the same group that Hans sold many different cultivars to back in 1937 which is more than 80 years ago. Perhaps the circle will go unbroken here as well.
