Hi Carol. Welcome to Pensacola. I moved to Pensacola about 12 years ago from Pacific Northwest area. It was a big change. I have thought about getting a truckload of soil. Our back yard was simply grass from chain link fence to chain link fence with some trees in the very back. Have slowly been using newspapers/no dig method to build border and perimeter gardens. It has been wonderful watching beauty unfold. My yard gives me happiness from every view. I would be glad to share what I have --always throwing out-- 4'oclocks, Mexican Petunias, Taro, Mexican Hydrangeas, some sunflowers (from under the bird feeder), yellow spreading lantana, mint, passion flowers. Pestiest weeds are dollarweed and betony (somewhat tasty root). A couple of friends and I are going to see the Gardens tour next week. Biggest plan is to turn my "wooded" area into a mulched woodland path with azaleas, camellias, some benches--perhaps some workout areas. Turning the flat land into hills of brush, covered with soil and then the flowering shrubs. Would love to meet other avid gardeners--especially in Pensacola. Here is a picture of an area by "goldfish pond", Scentamental rose, and Dolly Parton rose by black and blue salvia.
