Given your fascination with this curious little plant, I say go for it.
If I were going to spend $2.00/seed though, and the plant can live to be 1000 years old (how do they know that?), I would want to have someone lined up to take over when I was no longer able to care for it. Maybe it should be someone other than your wife. Naw, I'm sure by now she knows how you are...a man in love with plants.
