Brenda, a number of years ago I spoke with some growers of orchids and other plants who swore by Superthrive for preventing transplant shock. It was also used for re-habbing that occasional plant that accidentally didn't get watered and dried up. The original owner, who was sort of an oddball, kept his formula close and did not encourage research, has passed away. I do not know if the present owners will be more open to studies. I do think the formula must have changed as it is a different color liquid now, a much lighter brown.
