@piksihk, just never discard/reuse (.... as I did .... Whistling ) sowing trays with Alstroemeria seeds - they can be very erratic germinators. With fresh seeds you should have farily good first season germination rates.

Rick, no rain for a long time (do not expect any either), so the annual weeds are wilting/wilted and I have to water my plants daily.

Your observation for Alstroemeria leaves is good ... for some species. Others have quite broad/short leaves and this does not happen. Have you checked the old pictures I posted at the PDB for andean species? A. spathulata, etc.? Now there is one species A. with whirling leaves I love: A. pelegrina. BTW, wouldn't you want to give A. seeds a try?
