Your picture shows the tubular structure of the chrysanthemum very well. Tubular petals have always interested me, and many years ago I was very "taken" by semi-tubular petals on a zinnia in my garden.

Those petals reminded me of a Calla Lily. I immediately went on the lookout for more tubular petals in my zinnias, and I did see a few from time to time, but never involving a complete bloom, or coming true from seed.

Then, one year I did see a tubular petaled "mutant" zinnia that had all petals on each bloom tubular, and I felt certain that I now "had" tubular petals, and crossed that zinnia extensively with many of my other zinnias. That gave me a varied "strain" of tubular petaled zinnias, and I am still working on that strain.

So your tubular petaled chrysanthemum struck a chord with me. Thank You!
