Just cleared this to the ground this week and it will renew itself come spring. We have it as a small patch of filler at the edge and it receives filtered shade part of the day most of the year except the height of summer. If we don't shear it to the ground it looks less robust. This first photo gives you an idea of its refreshed growth and the start of it's bloom which lasts through fall. There is a large rose that gives it the filtered shade you can see. Snuggled up to a yellow DL. The second photo shows that great purple color Marilyn mentioned. the photos are from April 29th just before noon. It is very forgiving about summer water as its about three feet from the nearest bubbler. If you come into contact with the foliage, like many of the Salvia, it has aromatics which in this case are to most folks unpleasant. I find it interesting and always surprising.
