I have a Black Pearl cherry tomato, but no Black Pearl Pepper, (mentioned in the concise WWW thread). Only one packet, but I listed it. Nice wish-list!
How old seeds would you be interested in, for salvias? I have some, but scanning the list, I see mostly dates from 2010 to 2012, so 4-6 years old. I wouldn't normally trade them, they're so old.
I've been told to plant salvia seeds "the same year", but have had reasonably good luck up to three years old.
(I haven't tried them lately, and I always pre-soak them overnight in weak hydrogen peroxide first. They swell up and look like frogs' eggs, then germinate more rapidly).
Thank you for the welcome! The black pearl pepper is an ornamental pepper. That is truly the one I want. As far as the Salvia, I usually don't mind older seed but I do worry about the germination rate. If anyone else has tried older seed (4-6 years) for salvia and it's worked please let me know. I intend to winter sow them. I'm really on the fence on this one. If others seem to feel that it shouldn't be a problem, I have no problem with the age of the seed. In the meantime, I'll do some digging myself and see what I can find on the matter.
