Rick, I think with what I have read so far and what you are telling me, I would prefer the salvia not to be older than 2 years. I actually have a tough time with salvia here which is probably why I keep at it. If I can save an oil soaked hosta with dawn dishwashing liquid, I should be able to grow salvia. But this year I planted a ton and only 3 made it to germination then on to full size plants. That was the weather. Someone once told me if you don't like the weather in OK, give it 5 mins. It'll change. They were correct, lol.
