The swap is only a week away so it's time to tell how it works. When the swap starts you will be given tickets to "call dibs" (picking seed packs). At the beginning of each new swap day (each swap day begins at the same time, 6pm Central, 7pm Eastern and 4pm Pacific) you will be given more tickets. Each day the number of tickets you receive will increase. For this swap you will start with 4 tickets on day one and it will increase by 4 each day, 8 tickets on day two, 12 tickets on day three, etc.. You can pick seeds from any of the seed list pages (wishlist, full list, event list) but I would recommend doing so from your wishlist. When the swap starts a treasure chest icon will appear next to the stars. Simply click on the icon, you will be ask to confirm your choice, click on the confirmation and the seeds are yours. Return to your wishlist and make your next selection. Continue until all your ticket are spent. The number of tickets you have available is listed on the swap home page.
Here is what the list will look like with the treasure chest icons.
If your go to your wishlist before the swap start to wait for the beginning, you will have to refresh the page when it starts to be able to see the treasure chest.
Your may also qualify for bonus tickets. When someone selects seeds from your list you will be awarded a fractional amount of tickets. When that amount reaches one full ticket you will be able to make a bonus dib. The fractional amount awarded is determined by an formula that Dave has programed into the system and will decrease each day as the number of tickets is increased. The bonus tickets are a kind of reward for those offered unique variety of seeds that are popular with the other participants.
After you have made selections and people have picked from your list, a couple of new links will appear on the swap home page. One is » View your "bought" items and the other is » View your "sold" items. Clicking on those links will give you a complete list for that category. The system keeps track of everything for you, so no need to make list at home.
