I DID go to the Christmas Store in Frankenmuth, just forgot the name of the town although we stayed there overnight. What a place!!! The bubble lights do have a liquid in them that bubbles although most of ours have lasted through the years. Never knew what was inside of them. Some bubble faster than others. Most of our lights are ancient but I buy a new set of the minis every year after Christmas so we always have a working set.
Fragile ornaments take such special care but I pack them in bubble wrap or in tissue individually.
