Annette, I was just going to suggest some sort of permanent edger for that bed that will divert water, but sounds like you're already thinking of the same. Water is always likely to travel that path, and it will probably just keep happening otherwise. At least the tulip and hyacinth bulbs are still there- thank goodness for that.
