So many Spring flowering Catts do exactly that! Smiling They produce blooms from seemingly dead sheaths!
Gigi, you did a really good thing posting that here, I would think you just prevented a bunch of cut-off blooms, others reading this. And you are right, the plant is not lost and will bloom some more.
