The cow/bird relationship reminds me of the way sharks (and others) seek out schools of some kind of specialized fish and let the little fish clean their outer skin of parasites.
symbioticmutualism - this may be what's happening when different animals engage in cross species behavior beneficial to each other.
Nothing that's been done can ever be changed.
