Glad it didn't eat anything. Mounds sound more like moles. My gophers only make tunnels, eat off the plant root and sometimes pull the plant down into the hole (like in cartoons). I find their holes when I step and the ground gives way, or by digging with my hand where the plant was growing until I find the hole which is about 2 inches in diameter.
