Oooh, that Australian Ringneck is a gorgeous parrot, I love those colors!

Years ago we had a green Indian (a/k/a Rose) Ringneck Parrot named Sandy. We purchased it as a young bird from a pet shop and realized quickly that he wasn't yet cracking seed so we ended up having to hand feed him wet food with a little tube/dropper. The pet shop should have never been selling such young birds. Sandy grew quickly and although we had a large cage for him, he did not like being in the cage much. He would screech and squawk and was extremely loud when he knew someone was at home ... he wanted out! That bird loved my husband and the cat but would bite me every chance he got ... and though they aren't very large parrots, that beak is strong! It was strange because I've been an animal lover my entire life and we've had many cats, dogs and parakeets over the years and that is the only pet that for some reason took a disliking to me! He was fine the first few years when he was a young bird and we think he came to dislike me because I was the one always putting him back in his cage and he did not want to be in there. Parrots are very much community birds and like company so when it came a time where both my husband and I were working very long hours we knew Sandy wasn't getting the attention he needed and deserved so we gave him to a lady who raised other Ringneck parrots. Sandy found a girlfriend in his new home and they had many cute little babies. We used to stop by on occasion to visit and he was a very happy parrot once again which made us extremely happy! Lovey dubby
