When I lived down there, I found the painted buntings liked the small bird seed -- finch mix. I had read they love nyjer thistle so I got some & they never touched it. Give the buntings time to discover your place & show up. We started with 1 or 2 then the next year there were 3 or 4, then the next year there were 5 & so on & so forth.
