Since this original post, I've tried the wet paper method, and cardboard to keep the Bermuda grass away. Both seemed to work at first but as summer got going, the Bermuda grass won big time. And, like Imapigeon said, don't try to till the stuff, I warned my dh but he insisted on doing it anyway and the stuff came back thicker and stronger than ever. I've tried a few other methods that didn't work either.

At this point, I'm thinking about bricking in my cottage garden. Hilarious!
