That's funny, Anna. You mount your plants on the smooth side and I mount all of mine on the rough side. Not only do I do it because I think the rough side has a more interesting surface to view but also that allows me (or a customer) to put the cork on a flat surface rather than hanging. There is normally a curvature, particularly with a large slab of cork, and putting the smooth surface down gives a more stable surface for counter, shelf, or table presentation.

Just a few of what I have mounted are shown and also, this is what a large slab of cork looks like.
