It's a numbers game.

There are literally tens of thousands of daylily and iris cultivars. And the point of hybridizing has been to make them more attractive and more varied. And they are very easy plants to make crosses with so the crosses get made. The crosses bloom within a year or two. Many other plants take longer for the hybridizing cycle. And they grow and increase well and are extremely easy plants to share with friends.

And they are very pretty.
