I stayed with my sis last Dec and although I am just a bit taller than her, I am no match to the depth of their washer, and neither is she, so she has a reaching tool hanging by the wall which we used to grab the smaller items at the bottom of the washing machine. I forgot what model she has, it is a top loader with no agitator in the middle, and it is also in their basement. My mother when she was still alive lived with her and is never allowed to go to the basement as she got older, to avoid fall injuries.
At home I use also a top loader but it has an agitator in the middle. But our machines are upstairs so it is a good convenience for me.
