So far, since I've planted my garlic in mid-October, we've had temps as low as -4F, up to 56F, inches of rain, and several inches of snow. All I can hope is that the straw mulch I have is protecting everything. I did have a few sprouts before all of this began. Garlic is in raised beds, and drain really well.

Like Huang, I love garlic scapes, and even asked my neighbor (who doesn't use hers) to give me hers last year. We made an awesome garlic scape pesto for the freezer, and use the scapes fresh as well.
