Being a northern gardener (Zone 4), I can tell you that most dormants disappear in the winter, warm or not. They need a rest period. It may have more to do with the daylight hours than temperature, though I can't swear to that. I've even had some go dormant after blooming when it's dry, but they came back in the fall.
