Jack, they're Hairstreak size for sure! But they are a rather large Hairstreak. If they were Swallowtail size I would lose my mind! The only one I saw was at a nursery up the road when I was buying my first Sweetbay Magnolia. The employee went to get a handcart to move the tree and Dad and I were just standing there when it landed on one the Magnolias! I would love to see another one, but if I'm remembering correctly, I think they're one that doesn't stray too far from their host plant. I don't see any of the Hairstreaks in my yard too often, anyway. More of a "hiking in the preserves" kind of butterfly.

I'm off to Starbucks and MOSI! Pictures later...
