In spring, those kind of hairstreaks are sometimes easier to photograph, especially when it's on blooms or something and a bit too windy to fly. But I don't think it's ever possible to get a pic of the upper sides of its wings. I've only gotten extremely brief glimpses when one is trying to fly and I just stubbornly keep stalking it. Then if I'm very very lucky I can see much more of that gorgeous shimmering blue! Don't know why it's called purple! My best pic from last year at least showed the gorgeous tail pretty good! And this is why I am so willing to take the time to stalk them. Most of the year I don't see them, also.

I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority. E. B.White
Integrity can never be taken. It can only be given, and I wasn't going to give it up to these people. Gary Mowad
