Deebie,..i think the average size is approx 4 inches,..then as the season progresses the blooms become a tad smaller from all the blooms each plant produces,..with a good sunny location and feeding they will produce big blooms,..i have not come across any bulbs since 2013,..hard to believe,..it was a once off,..luckily i collected the seeds which everyone wanted a few of,..i ended up with about half a dozen for myself
Shannon,..ah so i guessed right about the name Shannon being associated with the River Shannon,..i live about 100 yards from that river and spend a lot of time boating up and down it and into the lakes,..oh i know a few women named Shannon so don't mind what they say,..its used here
