Hi, everyone, I'm new to ATP. I was wondering if anyone else in the mid-south has been checking their long-range forecasts for this spring. I know many of you east of me (I'm in Oklahoma City) have had a rough winter. Our winter here has been mild. Today we are in the low 80s. Much too warm for this time of year. Of course I don't suffer any illusion that winter is over by any stretch. But it does appear that we are expected to have warmer than our "normal" temps, but lower precip is also forecast.

I winter-sowed a few containers last week, and already have sprouts of Marjoram, Common Thyme, Tahoka Daisy, and Tarragon.

I think I'll go ahead and winter-sow my tomatoes (Black Cherry, SunGold, Large Red Cherry, Stump of the World, Cherokee Purple, and Prudens Purple). I got free seeds of Gabrielle with my seed order (a red grape) but haven't decided whether to plant them or not. My research didn't tell me much about this variety, good or bad, and I have limited space. The sugar snaps and arugula are going in first, and then the tomatoes.

I think I should go ahead and plant the peas. It may warm up too much before I get much production anyway, but I gotta try - love them snaps!

Do any of you guys have plans to start planting seeds soon? I'm sure many of you have the same problem we do in Oklahoma - it gets hot quickly so we don't get much production out of our spring garden crops.
