As hostas mature, I find there are many that I would classify as large that are not sold as being large. The mature foliage can be so different from the juvenile forms. Great Expectations is a good example of this as is Reptilian. GE is exceptionally beautiful in both forms. Many of the corrugated or rugose varieties don't show these traits until they are more mature. There textures add a lot of interest to the shade garden.
