About pots in the ground, I've got enough extra tubers to do some experiments this year and have planted some in 4" pots and 1 gallon pots in the ground. I'm very accustomed to spending weeks out in the cold, wet of November and December digging up clumps, so this will be fun to see what a single tuber in a pot plunked in the garden produces.
I'm working on an article on cutting dahlias Candee, so if you have any articles or posts on arranging that might apply, I'll be happy to link them to the article. I just struggle so with the facets of layout and lack of cut and paste, but the link feature I have got down pat!
I really hope your dahlia stragglers show up soon. Given our horrid conditions this spring, I'm happy to only have one plant that seems 'stuck' and is undoubtedly rotting in the wet ground. I'll dig it up tomorrow and see what's what. If the body of the tuber is rotting, roots will often form right near the shoot in an attempt to survive. Those can be trimmed, salvaged, and go on to flourish. Never give up on the dahlia!
