A few years back, I received a big box in the mail full of my favorite orienpet lily bulbs, with a card that said Love you, Happy Birthday! I asked my husband about it, but he knew nothing, then called my daughters who also knew nothing about the mystery gift. We had an awkward few days before I looked through my old emails and realized I had placed the order in the fall....I completely forgot about it. It really was the perfect gift, but sure made me question my sanity. It was quite the joke on myself!
We don't exchange gifts but I am not complaining, because my husband's attitude is, if you want it and we can afford it, then just get it.
Every year I tell myself no more plants, but the other night I saw a presentation on new salvias and hibiscus, and already I'm looking for a place to fit them in. This year I'll be selling many of my daylilies and iris, so maybe the budget will balance.
