was not a good ratio. We put all our veggie leftovers in it and mower shavings in the season.

When I had more browns than greens, I just added new greens to the center and mixed them enough to bring plenty of browns into contact with the new greens. Then I harvested compost form the center.

That didn't get hot, but my pile has always been too small to heat up noticeably.

Sloppy compost technique, but "if you pile it, it will rot".
