One more comment about I. germanica. It is , of course, a species iris, but, there ARE several different "clones" of it floating around.......differing very slightly .........so it can be a 'tough customer' to get a firm ID on. Both it, and Indian Chief were VERY popular (and prolific !) and were passed around a lot.....so they are amongst the "commonest" of noids.
