You may want to dig the holes and amend the soil for the new spots where you want them to grow before you dig them.

Digging is not a problem. Start about a foot away from the crown and lift with a shovel or garden fork.

Be sure to give them a good watering when you replant them, and if your weather is warm, water more often but don't drown them.

This is the rootball of Rooguchi, a gift from a friend. I never dug a clematis until I saw the rootball on this one. It gave me hope that I could do it...and I did.
