You are correct. It is not a good idea to transplant a fruiting tree. However since it is potted, IF you can transplant it with the rootball intact you wll should not upset it too much, It also depends on whether it is a dwarf or one of the mini- varieties designed for container growing. I personally get the best results transplanting dormant shrubs and trees.
