I don't know southern Peas but love sugar snaps for growing. This year I planted several varieties: Sugar Snap Sprint, Sugar Daddy, Sugar Snappy, Super Sugar Snap, Sugar Star, and Cascadia. Of all these varieties the Cascadia outshone the others by miles. All the others produced far less and have dried up. The Cascadias are still huge mounds of green and have not stopped producing even during this horrendous heat wave (but they have obviously slowed down a lot!). My husband is now letting them set seeds for next year. I had intended to have them over and done with at this point to give the row of soy beans room! He likes his sugar snaps cooked but I prefer them raw.
