Just wandering around in the gardens today chopping down some of the mess I left all winter. It is still to wet/cold to do any real cleanup yet. I was cleaning up one of the kitchen door raised beds a bit too and scattered underneath some debris, on top of the ground was a whole bunch of bulbils of pretty good size. I am pretty sure they are from L. Liberty Hyde Bailey I planted a few years ago. Last year they went crazy and were just gorgeous. I scooped up a handful of them and tucked them into the east side garden under my living room window. Good thing I had noticed a patch of raised thawed soil earlier in the day. I couldn't believe they were so healthy looking, some even had little tails of growth started on them already. Every spring in the north is like a miracle and I never stop feeling awed.
