Donald mentioned the tiny slightly serrated edge, which I hadn't noticed on my striking yellow Iris that I have been trying to identify for a few years. I think that clinches it for me! I saw a photo on a yellow thread somewhere recently, that said Ola Kala, so I went to the database and there it was! The same slightly dog eared falls, the rich orange gold longish beard, and the perky standards. Tall and late and fragrant, reminding me of Yukon Fever.
Thumb of 2016-03-20/HemNorth/67651a This is the first time I've tried to upload an image from picasa. I had cropped it tighter than it appears here. I'll have to try saving the cropped photo to the disc - I think that will work. I have a photo of the plant rather than just a bloom, that I will try to upload to the Iris database. With my son's help I successfully managed getting two photos of Hem. Ophir up on the hemerocallis database. It took 30 years to find the identity of that one! Hurray!
