Woofie, the Mid-South is farther north and to the west. There is some obvious overlap of areas also considered as being in the Southeast. The problem is that there seems to be no formal definitions of the different regions. Georgia, however, is definitely NOT in the Mid-South.

According to Wikipedia, "The Mid-South is an informally-defined region in the United States, usually thought to be anchored by the Memphis metropolitan area and consisting of West Tennessee, North Mississippi, the Missouri Bootheel, Southern Illinois, Western Kentucky, Central and Northeast Arkansas, and Northwest Alabama."

To my mind, it is the similarity in climate (humid, subtropical) that is the most important factor, rather than state borders.
